Why is the Rising Stars Team walking to raise funds for ACS? All of us on the Rising Stars Team are survivors and/or have lost friends or family to cancer. This is our nineteenth year participating in the ACS Relay for Life. We are walking and raising funds for ACS to make a difference in the fight against this disease. Someone from our Rising Stars Team will be walking at all times for 12 hours on July 22 because cancer never sleeps. We are walking to raise money and awareness, to help the American Cancer Society create a world with less cancer and more birthdays. Our team is doing our part in the fight against cancer. In the past eighteen years, with your support and donations, the Rising Stars Team has raised over $227,000 for ACS. Our Rising Stars Team is named in memory of Peggy Rising, who passed away from uterine cancer in 2005, the first year we participated in Relay.
