HISTORY OF DELTA SIGMA THETA SORORITY, INC - MIDDLETOWN (DE) ALUMNAE CHAPTER:
Delta Sigma Theta is an international public service sorority, dedicated to a program of sharing membership skills and organizational services in the public interest. The Middletown (DE) Alumnae Chapter was chartered on Sunday, April 27, 2014 by 26 talented and visionary women. All of these women had already accepted an active responsibility and commitment to making their community a better place in which to live. Therefore, it was perhaps prophetic that these women; who already had a common bond, would decide to come together as a unified force and tackle issues of the citizens of the Middletown, Odessa, Townsend, Clayton and Delaware City areas. Middletown (DE) Alumnae Chapter was the six chapter of Delta Sigma Theta established in Delaware. Under the leadership of President Ruth Mathis Tucker, the Middletown (DE) Alumnae continues to grow and remain focused on the sorority's mission of sisterhood, scholarship and service.
