How we Relay?!?!The year of 2022 was a year that changed our lives completely; my family was devestated with the news we received following an incident my father endured on 1/11/2022. The outcome could have been worse if my father didn't collapse that day and went under further investigaion. Our father, Mark, became ill 1/11/2022. He collapsed while at work and was taken by ambulance to the hospital. He had emergency surgery on 1/15/2022 to remove a large mass from his small bowel. The doctor told him without the surgery he would have bled to death within that week. He was told that the mass was cancer before he even had the surgery. It was soon confirmed, as of February 24, 2022, following surgery and a PET Scan that he had Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma (Diffuse Large B Cell Lymphoma) . He recovered at home postoperatively, while ensuring to attend many doctors’ appointments, blood work, and testing over at least a 2 month period in preparation for chemotherapy. He had to be fully recovered from surgery before starting chemotherapy. It seemed like every week there is a bump in the road that delayed him starting chemotherapy. He just underwent two iron infusions within that timeframe, as well. Most recently he had a PET Scan and an abscess was found in his right upper quadrant. This abscess needs drained and evaluated before chemotherapy could begin. Chemotherapy started towards the end of the month of March 2022. He completed 6 rounds of chemotherapy. Throughout all of this he has been unable to work. Until 1/11/2022 our father has not missed a day of work since 1988. On 7/21/2022, PET Scan was completed and on 8/8/2022 he was cleared to return to work; he was nervous but excited to return to work!! On 7/7/2023, PET Scan showed something small that required some addition scans and monitoring to ensure no growth. The waiting game continues, as surgery right now is not an option as to where the spot is located, it is too risky. Continued prayers are always welcome and we will update you all as we know more
