Relay For Life of Joliet Presented by WMC, Inc. and Duly Health and Care

Indestructible

We’re doing this relay to bring awareness to Uterine Cancer and Stomach Cancer for our family members that mean the world to us.

In the words of our Uterine Cancer Survivor:

Being told you have cancer is not something you will ever forget. You are immediately consumed with shock, worry, fear and sadness. You think about how you don’t want to die. No matter what you do those thoughts and feelings are on your mind. You pray that everything will turn out fine. Then your fighter side comes out, at least it did for me. I told myself I was going to fight and stay strong because this situation was not going to break me.

Thankfully, I became cancer free after my surgery. Still endured radiation, but I AM A SURVIVOR! I have a long road ahead of me filled with doctor’s appointments, scans and MRIs but that’s okay. I may be considered high risk with the BRCA1 gene, but I intend on staying a survivor. I thank God everyday that my situation turned out this way. I am beyond grateful for my family, friends, and my cancer care team who have helped and prayed for me along the way.

Cancer doesn't know limits or boundries. My family recently had another member facing a cancer battle. His journey had been rough, but he is STRONG and did prevail!  This situation is another reminder of how important cancer reseach is.

Unfortunately, not everyone ends up as a survivor or stays one. I’m doing this relay for myself, for my Dad, for all the survivors, for all the courageous fighters and for all those we have lost. The funds I'm raising will help sustain critical research and patient services in this difficult time. Believe me, every dollar really does count, so I'm asking for your help. Please donate today, because together we can accomplish anything! 💜

How Fundraising Impacts Your Community

Cancer hits far too close to home, so the funds you raise will help do the same. Through services and resources like free rides to chemo, free places to stay near hospitals, and a live 24/7 helpline, cancer patients and their families will feel the love. Here’s how recent money raised has been put to incredible uses.

As of January 2022, we have invested $400 M for potentially lifesaving cancer research grants.

We have received over 250,000 calls and chats from patients and caregivers seeking support in 2021

Cancer patients benefited from ACS transportation support through our Road TO Recovery program and transportation grants in 2021, with nearly 229,000 rides provided.

Cancer has touched all of us in some way. And we want to stop this disease in its tracks. We'll spend the next few weeks fundraising for the American Cancer Society. Then, on the day of the event, we'll honor the lives lost to cancer, celebrate survivors, and support the caregivers who so selflessly help others.

Together, we'll be a part of making a difference in this important cause.
