Thanks for coming here and please read to the end. Cancer has taken too many of my loved ones too soon. And cancer is trying to take more. Take a second and think of a few of your loved ones who battled cancer. Remember the ones who lost and are just gone. I’m raising money in the names of; Benjamin, Marie, AmyLynne, Kathleen, Shannon, Robin, Destiny, Joan, Jenna, Vye, Jim, …there will be more names here before September I am sure. I've joined Relay For Life to celebrate survivors, remember those we've lost, and offer up support to anyone in our community who's been affected by it. The funds I'm raising will sustain critical research and provide services for people trying to cope with their cancer experience. The American Cancer Society spends more money on cancer care and research than any other entity except the Federal Government. Believe me, every dollar really does count, so I'm asking you to please donate today. Ok that’s the corporate pitch now here is mine. Maybe not in my lifetime since I’m about all worn out, but in my kid’s lifetimes there is a good chance we will cure cancer. It’s going to take a Herculean effort and a lot of chowder! I’m asking all of the people who know me to dig in your pockets and make a donation to my team. Other than Ms Darcee’s classrooms I almost never ask for donations for anything. This is my first really serious fundraiser in my lifetime that I have ever organized. Did I donate to your causes? Did I send you some free art? Have I forwarded your fundraisers to more people? Have you enjoyed any of the clubs I have run, or softball teams I organized in high school? Have you been to my workshops at retreats? Have you come to any of my parties? Are you someone I haven’t seen in a while but still check in on now and then? Have I been your cheerleader? Do you have a partner or kids because of me? Have you cried in circle with me? Have I welcomed you into my home? To have dinner? To swim in my pool? To stay a while? To live with me? Have I been available at almost any time to take your call? Have I put your name under my pyramid? Have I kept good thoughts for you? Did I sponsor you? Did you sponsor me? Did we ever have fun together? Have I entertained you with my stories? I’m asking you now to make even the smallest donation to my Relay For Life Team! What you would spend on one coffee or pastry or cocktail! If you can do that monthly until the event in September that would be so great but any amount will be so wonderful and appreciated. Let’s do this together!
