The G.E.R.M.A.N. Club's sponsoring organization is Gold Together, an initiative by the American Cancer Society aimed at raising awareness and funds to support pediatric cancer research and programs.
Our goal as a Club is to better the lives of those in our community, especially those going through hard times. Donations support crucial research, patient services, and advocacy for improved treatments and care. Contributing to Gold Together helps improve outcomes for children battling cancer, making a real difference in their lives and futures.
We aim to be one of the top teams in Virginia Tech's Relay for Life this year, and we can only do that with your help. Every dollar brings us closer to a world where cancer is preventable, treatable, and survivable. Join the fight to save lives!
Anecdotes from members of the Club:
"During my senior year of high school, a close friend of mine was diagnosed with cancer. This was life-altering in ways beyond what words can describe, and showed how fragile life can be. Thanks to both treatment and awareness, she is a proud survivor and all who know her are blessed to have her in their lives."
"My mom's best friend continues to battle cancer. She said: 'The journey through cancer can very easily make or break you. It was on my hardest days that I would try to find meaning in the struggle. It came to me that, just like we must endure rain to see the flowers grow, so too must we be brought to our very "bottom" in order to appreciate the little things that bring us joy. We can roll over and give in, or we can fight. It's when we choose to fight that we receive blessings out of a tragedy.' It's a testament to the research and awareness that the American Cancer Society funds that survivors can have this positive mindset about their experiences fighting one of the hardest fights on Earth."
